Bye Bye XMMS
I have used XMMS for several years in every linux distribution I have had the opportunity to use. However, because I'm using Ubuntu (Xubuntu), Debian decided to kill xmms since Ubuntu Hardy version.
You can see some of the reasons and follow-up here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/190684https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/222492It mainly was because it was not anymore updated and it relied in GTK1 that will be also killed in Debian very soon.
I tried xmms2, amarok, etc. but they were not the same... I wanted the same feeling and speed as my xmms...
Following someone's recommendation, I tried "audacious" (you can install it easily from synaptics, aptitude, apt-get, etc..). It really fit my needs with a great interface and options that xmms lacked of.
This is in general how it look the preferences of audacious:

By the way, you can also use winamp and xmms skins with it!
This is my xmms skin I used now in audacious:

To use your xmms skins in audacious, you just need to:
cp ~/.xmms/Skins/*.zip /usr/share/audacious/Skins/You don't have to unzip them, they just work out out the box.
Also, audacious have an option (marked with red in the next picture),
in which let you to change the hue (color tint) of the skin:

Here are some other pictures of the pluggins that you can use in audacious.

If you liked xmms, I recommend you to try audacious... you will agree with me :)
I think I will not miss anymore my xmms, so I wanted to give a good "bye-bye" to that precious piece of software, thank you xmms!.
Enjoy!
