World Problems

I think this topic matters to all of us. The question is: which is the worst problem in our planet? Which do you think it is?

Hungry is definitely one of the biggest problems in our planet. About 826 million of people do not have enough to eat in a day. And in developing countries 6 million of children die each year mostly related to hunger. In Mexico, for example, about 40 million of people are extremely poor. Even this, Hungry is not the worst of all the problems.

Many people could say that wars are the worst problem. In all human history, more than 500 million of people died because of wars. But no, it is not the worst of all problems.

Diseases are a really big problem in our world. With so many different and lethal as AIDS, Ebola, SARS, Cancer, every day more and more people are dying because of diseases. Even though medicine had advanced very fast, many diseases are still not curable. Unfortunately, diseases are not the worst problem around.

Crime and injustice are a problem in many countries. Crowded cities are ideal for crimes. Even here in Japan, almost daily crimes occur, but in developing countries crime is a huge problem, with million of victims per day. This problem may be solved with better laws and improving all population style of live. Crime is not the worst problem.

Pollution is getting higher and higher with more and more industries around the world each year. We produce tons of garbage per second and natural resources are getting lost. Some industries and countries are trying to reduce their ecological impact using clean generation of energy. But, it is not enough. Pollution is the worst problem in our world, why? Because pollution is causing a big problem named Global Warming. GW is not a simple problem that can be fixed in few years. Maybe is too late to try to fix it. GW will affect us not in 100 years, not even 50, but 10 or 15 more years. GW is not just the increasing level of the sea, where, for example, Indonesia will loose about 1000 islands. Climate around the world is changing, with a higher change, every will change. No crops, animals and bugs will move to other areas creating instability, their own extinction and new diseases. Food and water will not be enough for support the population, so hunger and crime will increase everywhere. Wars for resources will be more frequent. The world as we know it today will not be the same.

Please help our planet. How? Simple, first, try to reuse everything as much as you can and save resources. Ride bicycle if you can, if not, walk or use public transportation. Don’t turn air conditioner or lights if you don’t really need it. Etc. Finally, try to learn more about it and share it with other people.
